Doble Delivers First BTCC Win for Power Maxed Racing at Snetterton
History was made at Snetterton this weekend as Mikey Doble secured his maiden Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship victory in stunning fashion for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing.
In a commanding lights-to-flag performance in Race 3, Doble kept his cool under immense pressure from reigning champion Ash Sutton to take a well-deserved first win in the #88 Vauxhall Astra. Starting from pole, earned through a strong Race 2 finish and a favourable reverse grid draw, Mikey didn’t put a foot wrong.
It was a drive of real maturity and control – managing tyre wear, defending cleanly, and executing every lap with composure far beyond his years.
“It’s hard to put into words just how much this means,” said Doble. “To take my first BTCC win and hold off a driver like Ash – someone I’ve looked up to – is just unbelievable. The car was hooked up from the start and the whole team played their part. Massive thanks to everyone at Motor Parts Direct and to all the incredible people at Power Maxed Racing. The support from the fans has been amazing – it’s a day I’ll remember forever.”
Doble’s victory is not just a personal milestone – it’s a landmark moment for Power Maxed Racing and the wider BTCC grid. It marks the team’s first win since 2019, and the first overall race win by an Independent outfit in more than 1000 days.
Team Principal Adam Weaver was full of praise:
“It’s been a long time coming. Mikey has always had the talent, and today he showed the whole paddock just what he’s capable of. That was a proper, professional win – managing pace, tyres and pressure from one of the best drivers in the series. It’s a proud day for the whole team and a brilliant moment for Motor Parts Direct in their first year as title partner. We’re building real momentum now.”
While Doble took the headlines, Nick Halstead also made important progress across the day. After a tough qualifying, he delivered three clean and consistent drives, steadily improving with every lap and gathering more experience in the ultra-competitive BTCC field.
“It’s been a solid weekend overall,” said Halstead. “We worked hard on the car setup and saw improvements with each race. It’s great to see the team win – it shows what’s possible and I’m excited to keep pushing forward.”
With confidence high and a maiden win in the bag, Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing head to Thruxton in two weeks with renewed belief and serious momentum.
