Thomas Holdstock of Warwickshire-based Drive System Design (DSD) will be cycling 3,200 miles to raise money and awareness for Cure Leukaemia, and Power Maxed has donated bicycle care products to help him on his journey.
"I was made aware of the ride by our colleague Rob Peacey, Senna Proctor's Race Engineer for Power Maxed Racing at the British Touring Car (BTCC) race weekends, and knew it was immediately something we had to support. It's easy in motorsport to spend money left, right and centre, but fortunately Power Maxed generates the cash for us to be able to support charitable work and impressive feats such as this," comments Adam Weaver, Team Principal for Power Maxed Racing and Managing Director of Power Maxed.
Dr Thomas Holdstock is a Control Engineer for DSD in Leamington Spa, and has undertaken to cycle 3,200 miles from Los Angeles to New York over a 32-day period at the end of this month. Power Maxed has donated Bike Wash & Wax, Chain Lube & Wax, Rain Off and Leather Protector to keep Holdstock's bike in tip-top condition throughout the ride.
Other employees at SDS have meanwhile already completed the Three Peaks Challenge, allowing DSD to breach the £20k mark in fundraising since 2016 for charities which improve the lives of people living with blood cancer. These events are taken on by the employees in support of their colleague Lizzie Dean, who was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia four years ago and relapsed a second time after a stem cell transplant in 2016 until she was placed on a world-first clinical trial which was made available to her by funds raised for Cure Leukaemia, and is currently in remission.
Power Maxed wish Dr Thomas Holdstock the very best of luck on his journey and wish him the safest of travels.
