Power Maxed at Coventry Motofest 2017

Like a fine wine, Coventry MotoFest only seems to get better with age. Now in it’s third year, and with well over 100,000 visitors through the gates this year, Darren and the team have definitely got something right. As main sponsor of the event since the beginning, it’s one of the highlights of the year for us. This year was no exception…

A perfect spring day greeted us Saturday morning, and spirits were high. With popularity growing year on year for drivers and riders, this year’s paddock area was bigger and busier than ever. The almost addictive tang of race fuel tinged the air, mingling with the noises of everything from Works GT1 monsters to 60 year old 2 stroke screamers. With “Optimus” (our 13 metre event trailer) displaying our full range of wares and taking pride of place on the bridge all weekend, from 7:30 Saturday morning we were inundated with requests for Power Maxed cleaning products and last minute sprays and additives. One car lucky enough to receive the full Power Maxed Treatment was Jeremy’s incredible Aston Martin GT8. With the stunning black and orange homologation special bearing the bug splatters and rubber marks of a car that gets driven as it should be and his first run not far away, he needed to make sure it looked as good as it could. Quick Detailer to the rescue! The results speak for themselves…

With one of our Vauxhall Astra BTCC cars taking to the track over the course of the weekend, we decided it’d probably be a good idea to check the course out. Of course, this was the perfect excuse for head honcho Adam to drive his super rare Audi Quattro exactly how it was meant to be. Embarrassing some pretty exotic machinery over the weekend, it’s no wonder this is his favourite car…

After the all important sighting laps, first out were the Classic Cars. With everything from Morgans to MGs, with the odd priceless Jag thrown in to mix it up, it was a fantastic opener to the weekend track time.

Next up were the bikes, which was by far one of the biggest groups throughout the whole weekend, and included everything from road legal, turbo powered drag bikes…

…to racers, both modern and historic…

…to this-Capirossi’s actual MotoGP winning Ducati. Seeing this being ridden in anger was a very special experience for everyone there.

Midday arrived, and with the sun high in the sky, it was time for the part we’d all been waiting for- The Competition Cars. With race cars of every ilk, from current tin tops…

…to historic open wheelers…

…and everything in between. Rallycross cars are always something of a spectacle, but watching them being driven flat out through a closed city centre was a new experience for quite a few of us, and something we won’t forget in a while.

It soon became time for what many people told us was the highlight of their weekend-seeing one of our very own BTCC Astras being piloted around the street course. With celebrity guest Paul Hollywood taking the helm on Saturday, the viewing areas were 4 deep in places, with everyone trying to sneak a peak at the Bake Off star.

Three Off Road Challenge trucks took to the track across the weekend, which made for a very interesting couple of sessions on the Sunday, when the British weather decided to make itself known. Running bit power V8s with some incredible engineering touches, we couldn’t get enough of these.

All in, it was a fantastic weekend, both for competitors and the public alike. With the likes of the Land Rover Experience, Heritage Motor Centre and Aston Martin, along with Power Maxed obviously, having a massive presence over the weekend, it’s obvious the formula works. With big plans in the pipeline, the unique event shows no signs of going anywhere.

Bring on 2018…
